Ghostty 1.4 becomes the first non-Kitty terminal to fully implement Kitty graphics

Ghostty 1.4.0 is a major release with 7 months of work, 172 contributors, and 2,889 commits. It achieves 100% Kitty graphics support—including animation and relative placements—making it the first terminal outside Kitty to do so. Scrollback compression cuts memory 70–90%, the default scrollback limit rises to 50 MB, and I/O throughput improves 25–55% on macOS. The release also fixes numerous security advisories and adds the Kitty clipboard protocol.
Our Kitty graphics implementation now covers 100% of the published specification, making Ghostty (and libghostty) the first terminal to do this outside of Kitty itself.
