I use agents for all my engineering work now, and I can ship things that wouldn't have been worth starting two years ago. But my GitHub history shows 2026 is already my busiest year since 2020, with August the busiest month ever at 427 contributions. The capacity to implement ideas has grown far faster than my capacity to think about them, and I'm tired.
Agents did not just make my existing workload faster to finish. They made it easy to give myself a much bigger one.
