Roblox's AI crawler pulled 145 GB of 3D models, including adult content, without permission
Roblox downloaded 145GB models from us (including adult content) without asking
A crawler identifying itself as Roblox's trellis2-data-sourcing hit Open3DLab, SFMLab, and SmutBase on October 15–16, 2026, reading nearly every project page and downloading 1,027 files totaling 145.5 GB—including 54.8 GB from the adult-only SmutBase. It ignored robots.txt and non-commercial licenses. The sites blocked it and emailed Roblox, which never replied. The user-agent address belongs to a researcher on Roblox's Cube 3D foundation model paper, suggesting the data was for AI training.
For a company being sued by several US states over child safety, "our AI team bulk-downloaded an adult site without looking" is not a good position to be in.
