OpenLDK runs Java bytecode inside Common Lisp and boots a Spring app in 84 milliseconds
OpenLDK: Bringing the Java World into Common Lisp
OpenLDK is a JIT compiler and runtime, written in Common Lisp, that reads Java bytecode, translates it to Lisp, and lets SBCL compile it to native code, so Java objects share the same process and heap as the Lisp application. Java classes become CLOS classes, methods become generic functions, and exceptions map onto Lisp conditions. Kotlin, Scala, Groovy, Clojure, Kawa, JScheme, and ABCL source can be spliced directly into Lisp forms, and an initialized Spring Boot context saved in a Lisp image relaunches in about 84 ms.
You can even connect Emacs and SLY to a Spring Boot application running on OpenLDK, inspect its objects, and monkey-patch its behavior while it keeps running.
