A finance grad taught himself n8n by being 'stupid on purpose' for six months

What I learned from six months of being stupid on purpose

A Loyola Chicago finance graduate describes spending his final semester deliberately feeling stupid while learning n8n workflow automation from scratch. He built hundreds of workflows — job prospecting, eBay flipping, a competitor inventory monitor for a Chicago dispensary, and CME trading signal bots — and nearly half failed or went unused. His lesson: tutorial limbo is a trap, and real learning only comes from starting small and breaking things daily.

The most damaging action, though, was actively exposing myself to the best outcomes the skill had to offer that were only possible with months or even years of experience.
