Plex laid off the whole player team
Since around October 19, Plex for Apple TV and iOS 2026.20.0 users report that 4K Dolby Vision Profile 8.1 files spin forever on direct play, even though the server logs "Direct play OK" and the same files play fine in Plex for Mac or when transcoded. A Plex contributor says he pushed a fix but doesn't know if it will be merged, adding that the player team was laid off that day.
Pushed up the code for this to be fixed but no telling if that'll be merged and if this will be fixed. Player team got laid off today.
