Why Your Microcontroller Probably Dodged the eMudhra CA Compromise
Your MCU Likely Escaped the eMudhra Intermediate CA Compromise

The eMudhra intermediate CA compromise exposed eight weak private keys, including one that was literally the number 4, forcing a scramble across programming languages, developer tools, and OS packages. But MCU-class devices are likely unaffected: they don't ship a generic root store. Instead, firmware typically pins a single root certificate, like GlobalSign R1 for a Google sample in Zephyr RTOS, to save precious kilobytes and code size. Unless your firmware explicitly includes an eMudhra root or its Sectigo cross-sign, your devices are safe from this specific flaw.
IOT boxes that can’t or don’t update are now trivially MITM’able forever.
