UCEPROTECT blacklists innocent sites by ASN, then charges $30/month to whitelist them

Tell HN: Uceprotect is extorting website owners

A site owner discovered their IP was blocked by Orange's security filters because UCEPROTECT Level 3 lists all of ASN 14061 (DigitalOcean) by reputation, not individual wrongdoing. Other major hosting providers' ASNs are also listed. UCEPROTECT offers whitelisting for about $30/month or $108/year, which the author calls extortion after 20 years in the industry.

Honestly, in my 20-year career, this is the first time I've seen a blacklist misbehave this badly and ask for money when there's clearly been no wrongdoing.
