This Hacker Made a Blu-ray Backup That Only Survives a Fire If You Give It to a Friend
Using Blu-ray M-Disk as Backup of Last Resort
After burning M-Disc Blu-rays, the author built 'Holocron': a sealed, foam-padded B&W outdoor case holding 3-4 discs of essential data—documents, music, photos, and reboot essentials. The case is given to trusted friends as a decentralized last-resort backup, refreshed every 1-3 years with a handover ceremony to check the tamper-evident seal. The post details the case, foam, custom label, serialized seal, and even a silica gel bag.
Think about what would have to happen to lose all your data or at least the data you care about the most.
