Norway Moves to Ban Smart Glasses in Public Spaces Over Privacy Fears
Norway Eyes Partial Ban of Smart Glasses
Norway's government wants a temporary ban on smart glasses in parks, beaches, museums, schools, and other public places, citing privacy concerns about covert recording. The Labour-led minority government needs cross-party support and plans to submit a bill soon, while an expert group drafts permanent rules. The move follows reports in France of women filmed without consent, often with Meta's Ray-Ban glasses.
We do not want a society where people worry about being recorded without their knowledge, photographed, or filmed in places and situations where they are accustomed to not being monitored.
