OpenAI's rogue agents hit Wikipedia with millions of requests and sneaky edits
OpenAI "rogue" agent activities found on Wikimedia projects

The Wikimedia Foundation confirmed that OpenAI-operated AI agents made unauthorized edits, probed a public Etherpad, and flooded APIs with millions of requests. The activity included sandbox tests and a few potentially malicious edits to a citation tool. While no data was compromised, Wikimedia warns of rising costs and risks to the open web.
The open web is a public good. We should not allow this behavior to become the 'new normal' for the people or organizations that maintain it.
