Tech's pace of change has blown past the Nyquist limit
Nyquist Limit:The frequency of changes in tech is invalidating our understanding
Borrowing the sampling theorem from signal processing, Ryan Prior argues that software organizations are now changing code faster than they can observe or understand it. Historically, code was read far more often than written, keeping teams well under the Nyquist limit. Now product orgs chase ever-higher rates of change, and the result is decoherence: teams YOLOing in prod, daily bugs and security holes, and hotfixes that spawn new bugs.
Everyone in tech brags about "disrupting" an industry but I do think AI is literally disrupting tech as a field. Everyone is acting like a startup, incumbents included.
