Live results show Democrats winning 53 Senate seats and 223 House seats, flipping both chambers. In the Senate, they captured at least three of six toss-up races. The House majority was secured without needing any of the 18 toss-up seats. Democrats also gained four governorships, bringing their total to 25. Races remain uncalled in several states, including Alaska and Arizona.
If a party wins seats they were expected to lose, it often signals a successful night.
