Discord will soon make messages from public servers searchable on Google
Discord will soon let anyone find public server messages through Google
Starting November 16, 2026, every Discoverable Server on Discord — the roughly 63,000 public communities with at least 1,000 members — gets a Server Web Page, and from mid-December, messages from public channels may surface in web search. Admins can opt channels out and users can switch off their own messages, with usernames and avatars hidden. Private servers, DMs, and group DMs are unaffected.
While they still exist today, many have moved into Discord servers. This has led to valuable information being locked in Discord conversations, inaccessible to the wider internet. We want to fix this.
