OpenBSD 8.0 arrives with a 30-year record of just two remote holes
OpenBSD 8.0: released Oct 20, 2026
OpenBSD 8.0, the project's 61st release, ships with a broad set of improvements: amd64 kernel virtual address space jumps from 4G to 512G, arm64 gains hibernate support, and riscv64 adds vector and interrupt-architecture support. DRM moves to Linux 6.18.53 with Intel Arc support, VMM now handles up to 64 VCPUs per guest, and security work includes pledge, unveil, and libcrypto fixes.
We remain proud of OpenBSD's record of more than thirty years with only two remote holes in the default install.
