One hacker breached John Deere and SharkNinja using an army of AI agents

Security firm Norforge found a hacker used Cairn, an open-source AI platform, to orchestrate attacks on more than 100 websites, including John Deere, SharkNinja, and Cummins. The agents ran largely on their own: the attacker set start and end points using fewer than 100 Chinese characters, and successful breaches took about 23 hours. Norforge identified over 20 exposed Cairn instances that are likely malicious. John Deere says no sensitive data was accessed; SharkNinja says it contained the threat.

The AI agents carried out the attacks with little involvement from the human hacker.
