Designing more efficient quantum circuits with Claude
Anthropic gave Claude plain-language specs for eight quantum circuits from chemistry, optimization, physics, and number theory. Working largely on its own, the model found designs that improve on the best published circuits, sometimes by an order of magnitude. The improvements cut the qubits and gates needed for useful applications, potentially bringing practical quantum computers closer.
Claude recognized that this divsteps approach could be promising for quantum circuits, but only if there were a way around needing to store the full history. It had an idea: perhaps the record didn’t need to be stored at all.
