I Can Hardly Remember My Old Job Now
My old job feels distant now

A developer reflects on how AI tools like ChatGPT, Cursor, and Claude have transformed his daily work. From using ChatGPT as a better search engine to agentic coding with Opus 4.5/6, his productivity tripled, but the job itself feels distant. He now focuses on architecture, QA, and high-level prompts, while models generate code, fix vulnerabilities, and even build apps overnight.
I prompt the model to explore moving my electron notes app to iphone, finally. Native swift, re-writing whatever we want. I think i’m ideating, I hit enter and leave. A few hours later I’m checking the news on my phone, and am interrupted by a (basic) working app, installed over the network so the model could ask me to QA it.
