Leaving Tech

Ryan Bigg, a developer of 20 years who maintains two of the most downloaded Ruby packages and grew a team from 2 to 12, has applied for over three dozen jobs and been rejected by 24. He's stepping away from tech, citing a brutal market, mental harm, and an industry chasing AI skills that nobody actually knows how to apply. Based in Warrnambool, he insists remote work remains effective.
The industry at the moment wants people who know how to use AI to further the business goals but here's the thing nobody wants to admit: not one person knows how to use AI to actually do that.
