Cyberattack Freezes €7 Billion Fehmarnbelt Tunnel Linking Denmark and Germany
Cyberattack halts construction of tunnel between Denmark and Germany

A cyberattack has halted construction of the 18-kilometer Fehmarnbelt tunnel between Denmark and Germany. The FLC consortium's workers' ID cards stopped functioning, and vessels, cranes, and platforms were immobilized, bringing offshore work to a standstill. Around 2,800 employees from five countries are affected. Danish authorities have not ruled out hybrid warfare, citing recent warnings of Russian cyber threats. The €7 billion project, originally slated to open in 2029, now faces further delays.
Henning Mortensen, head of the Danish Council for Digital Security, did not rule out a connection between the incident and hybrid warfare.
