Americans' Trust in Federal Government Hits Record Low
Americans Trust in Federal Government Sinks to New Depths

Gallup's annual Governance poll, conducted Sept. 1-17, reveals that trust in the federal government has sunk to new depths. Only 33% trust the executive branch, 28% the legislative branch, and 33% trust the government's handling of international and domestic problems. Trust in the judicial branch stands at 46%, its lowest ever. The declines are steepest for international problems (down 12 points) and the executive branch (down 8 points).
Trust in government has not disappeared but is mainly found among those whose preferred party is in power.
