Example.com's Biggest Redesign in Decades Adds JavaScript That Cycles Through Six Languages
Example.com Just Launched the Biggest Redesign in Decades
IANA has given example.com its biggest visual overhaul in over 20 years. The reserved domain now uses JavaScript to cycle its documentation message through English, Arabic, Chinese, French, Russian, and Spanish every five seconds, with a character-by-character opacity animation. The JavaScript also inserts an SVG book icon. IANA says the change reduces bandwidth for automated traffic, which rarely fetches the script. The redesign follows a Cloudflare migration and years of sporadic tweaks.
The changes we make to the site from time-to-time are usually informed by a desire to either reduce the overall bandwidth demands of serving the site, or improve its utility.
