After 18 Years of Writing Code by Hand, I Can't Imagine Going Back
Writing code by hand is over, forever

After 18 years of daily coding, the author stopped writing code by hand once AI tools like Claude Code crossed a threshold. At Filestage, monthly merged PRs jumped from 200 to 300 with no rise in bugs, thanks to CI guardrails and AI reviews. He argues abstractions still matter—LLMs should target high-level representations, not assembly—and wonders if UML and ER diagrams could become everyday interfaces to living systems.
Models have become good enough that I now consider it irresponsible to merge without an AI code review.
