The first packet sent via RFC1149 avian carrier is up for auction at Christie's
In 2001, the Bergen Linux User Group implemented RFC 1149, sending IP packets via carrier pigeon. One of the actual paper packets, inscribed to RFC author David Waitzman, is now at Christie's with a current bid of $1,300 and an estimate of $2,000–$3,000. The auction closes in 11 days.
The present scroll is one of those transmitted packets: a physical Internet datagram that actually traveled by carrier pigeon during the experiment.
