Dutch designer made DE9: Closer to the Edit into a playable web-based instrument

Twenty-five years after Richie Hawtin released DE9: Closer to the Edit, Dutch designer Merijn Straathof has turned the album's 120 original loops into a free browser instrument. Visitors can play, chain, and rearrange the fragments, run them through effects, or trigger them via MIDI hardware. The site's monochrome, hairline-grid design echoes Hawtin's Minus label, and the project is a labour of love rather than a commercial release.
