Waymark - Durable background workflows compiled to bytecode
Show HN: Waymark – A workflow engine that compiles jobs instead of replaying

Waymark is a Python library for building durable background tasks that survive server restarts and crashes, using only Postgres as infrastructure. Unlike replay-based engines like Temporal, Waymark compiles your workflow's control flow into bytecode for a durable virtual machine, so your code never re-executes. Write workflows as plain async Python with loops, conditionals, and parallel branches, and actions as distributed functions with per-call retries and timeouts. It includes a built-in webapp for monitoring and supports scheduled workflows. Ideal for teams already using Postgres who want simple, testable background jobs without extra infrastructure.
Background jobs in webapps are so frequently used that they should really be a primitive of your fullstack library: database, backend, frontend, and background jobs.
