Bunny's scriptable GeoDNS cuts a blogger's AWS bill from $5 to $1 a month
Scriptable GeoDNS: Leaving AWS for Bunny
Vincent Bernat replaced Amazon CloudFront and Route 53 with Bunny CDN and Bunny DNS to serve his blog from seven NixOS VMs worldwide. Bunny's scriptable DNS runs user-supplied JavaScript on each query, letting him return the two nearest servers. Route 53's per-query geolocation fees and KMS costs pushed his bill from $5 to $1 monthly, with performance on par with AWS so far.
When I discovered that Bunny DNS is almost free for up to 500 domains and features scriptable answers, I made the jump!
