A Firefox Extension Made Google's Pac-Man Doodle Haunt Computers
Pac-Man's Siren Call

In 2010, a designer on Google's UX team was asked to build a playable Pac-Man doodle for the homepage's 30th anniversary. The team added autoplay with sound after 10 seconds of inactivity, assuming few would linger. But a Firefox extension called CoolPreviews silently opened google.com in the background on browser launch, so users who had never touched Google suddenly heard an invisible Pac-Man siren blasting from their speakers. The author patched it within hours by requiring a click or keystroke to enable sound.
Then, out of a sudden, out of your speakers comes blasting a siren of an invisible Pac-Man game having infiltrated your computer in the most unusual manner. On repeat.
