Mistral Large 4 (Le Chonk) is now Open Weight

Mistral has released the weights of Mistral Large 4 (Le Chonk), a 1-trillion-parameter multimodal model trained from scratch on European infrastructure. It leads open-weight coding benchmarks like FrontierCode and Terminal-Bench, matches GLM-5.3 on the Coding Agent Index while using 47% fewer tokens, and scores 51% on the Cyber Index for defensive security work. Three reasoning modes let developers trade cost for performance, and the modified MIT license permits free commercial use except for Model-as-a-Service operators.
