Microsoft and Open Device Partnership build a tool that finds every hidden panic in your Rust binary
Finding Panics with Call Graph Analyzer
Tweede golf, under the Open Device Partnership and with Microsoft, released the Call Graph Analyzer (CGA), a rustc-driver that extracts a call graph from monomorphized MIR to pinpoint every function in a compiled binary that can panic. Unlike linker-based or debug-info tools, it sees dependency and standard-library panics before optimization, at the cost of 2–3x slower builds and some false positives. Running `cargo cga check` flags panicking calls like `strict_sub` with exact source locations.
However striving for zero panics is very hard and quite foolish: code is rarely void of assumptions.
