C++26 becomes the first C++ draft ever to fail its ISO ballot
The result of the C++26 DIS ballot

The C++26 draft failed its DIS ballot, the first C++ standard draft known to do so. Only 12 of 20 voting members backed it, short of the required two-thirds, and 41% voted against, far above the 25% cap. Nine countries voted No, mostly over the contracts design. WG21 meets in Búzios in November to decide whether to drop contracts or seek another ballot.
I love contracts as an idea, and I have missed them since they were removed from C++20.
