Apple’s folding iPhone is the most repairable foldable—but its screen cracks within hours

iPhone Duo Teardown

iFixit’s teardown of the iPhone Duo finds the most repairable foldable yet, with an easy-to-remove outer screen and electrically releasable battery. But the inner display is a different story: owners report cracks and bright lines along the fold within hours of setup, and out-of-warranty replacement costs $999. The crease is hidden by a nano-texture cover layer and a wobbly subpixel pattern, while the hinge uses gears and springs to control the bend.
