Time-Nuts: A Mailing List Where 1,800 Hobbyists Chase Nanoseconds

Time Nuts

Time-Nuts is a mailing list for amateurs obsessed with precise time and frequency, covering quartz oscillator stability, rubidium and cesium atomic clock measurements, and long-term comparisons via WWVB, Loran-C, and GPS. Most members are hams and electronics hobbyists who collect, repair, and operate surplus timing instruments. Started in 2001 by Tom Van Baak after private email exchanges outgrew their audience, it now counts 1,800 members and keeps an archive dating back to 2004.
