Retired decorator's attic Pokémon cards fetch £1.56m at auction
Retired decorator's Pokémon cards sell for £1.5M

A retired decorator from Woking bought sealed Pokémon sets on eBay in the late 1990s for his son, then stored them in the attic for 15 years once the boy lost interest. Ewbank's auctioned all 42 mint-condition sets on Wednesday for £1.56m, which the Surrey house calls the UK's most valuable trading-card sale ever and possibly a European record. A set that cost £300 went for £75,000; a Charizard-led Master Set fetched £100,000.
I know people always talk about finding treasure in the attic, but in my case that is literally true.
