Chrome extension lets plants overgrow your abandoned tabs until you slash them free

Overgrown, when plants invade your abandoned tabs

Charlie Gerard built Overgrown, a Chrome extension that treats neglected browser tabs like abandoned buildings. Each tab runs a neglect clock while out of view; the longer you ignore it, the more vines creep in from the edges. Past 5% coverage the page is walled off — you can scroll but not click — until you drag your mouse to slash the plants away with a machete, chainsaw, or flamethrower. Growth speed and weapon are configurable.
