Anthropic's Claude for Google Workspace is now in public beta on all paid plans, adding a sidebar inside Docs, Sheets, and Slides that reads your open file, sees your selection, and edits in place. It can rewrite text, build pivot tables and charts, and generate slides from your deck's layouts, with an "Ask before edits" mode for approval. New connectors also let Claude create and edit Google files from chat.
You decide how much Claude does on its own. In the default "Ask before edits" mode, each change appears as an approval card with a summary and Claude waits for your approval to make the edit.

It seems this isn't just MCP but a plugin into the Google ecosystem that allows side-by-side edit conversation with realtime changes similar to Gemini / Google AI Pro.
What I don't understand is, why would Google allow such direct competition to their own AI subscription? Looking forward to a community/open version of this tho it sounds like it needs something hosted to work.

Never let me find out that Google sends data to Anthropic or OpenAI.

Ironic that this is even news. AI can do anything but probably not fight bureaucracy at Google.
I would’ve expected a connector to Google docs at least 1 year back
