Oberdoerfer & Krebs Let Human Hands Finish What the 3D Printer Starts

Danish studio Oberdoerfer & Krebs, founded by Jasper Krebs and Bruno Oberdoerfer, prints flat furniture and then reheats and bends it by hand. Their Bend Chair and Bend Stool, shown at Ukurant during 3daysofdesign in Copenhagen, build pre-programmed bend zones into the toolpath, so the printer sets the structure while the body completes the form. Related projects push further: UpsideDown turns a deliberate printer detour into hooks, and Human Layers brings timed color changes into pellet printing.

In Oberdoerfer & Krebs' hands, the failed line becomes the useful part. A droop becomes a place to hang something.
