A train simulator built for terminal hackers grows a 3D engine
A train simulator game for console hackers

LeTrain, a procedural train simulator by Antonio Vázquez Araújo, has evolved from a 2006 C++ ASCII experiment into a Java 17 game with a LibGDX 3D engine, an infinite Perlin-noise world, and a full economy of gold, coal, and ruby cargo. Scenarios export as plain text, a custom ANTLR4 scripting language automates rails, and since March 2026 a team of AI agents writes code under the author's direction.
A game for engineer-children and child-engineers: no toys that play by themselves, honest trains, and pure keyboard flow.
