Maker builds a ZX Spectrum Next laptop from scratch, complete with genuine Next keyboard

After his first Spectrum Next laptop hit snags — hinges that wouldn't latch, an HDMI firmware update that broke the screen, and an off-the-shelf PC keyboard — the maker rebuilt the whole thing. Version 2 pairs a 14-inch WXGA panel with a genuine Spectrum Next keyboard, a spare SpeccyX PCB, touchpad, dual Micro-SD, stereo speakers, and joystick ports. A 12V UPS with a 10,000 mAh battery later added about six hours of playtime, and an Arduino Nano handles backlight control via Symbol Shift plus cursor keys.

It used an off-the-shelf USB PC keyboard. This is unacceptable in a Sinclair Spectrum laptop!

My grandpa kept Soviet copy of ZX Spectrum called Leningrad 1. You can read more about this thing here.

    Great post overall!

The obvious next step would be to put it inside the case of a Pandora.
