Alexey Pajitnov Built Far More Than Tetris

Beyond Tetris: The Other Games of Alexey Pajitnov [video]

A video tour of the games Alexey Pajitnov made beyond Tetris, surfacing the puzzle designs and experiments that never reached the fame of his falling-blocks hit. Posted to Hacker News, the link drew little discussion, so the focus stays on the lesser-known catalog of a designer most people know for a single game.

videogamedunkey has a video about this, and it's done in his classic way where it's not clear if it's all a big joke

I don't wanna be a jerk, but it's another proof that Tetris success was accidental. All other games are beyond suboptimal. Also interesting how one random success could define a man's future, career, happiness, money, etc.

Honestly, the biggest discovery to me is that the game was created later than I expected. 1984 in the video title would put it in the same year as Duck Hunt; Wikipedia seems to suggest 1985 was the actual year it was published, which is the same year as Super Mario Bros (which itself came few years after Donkey Kong).
