The Duck Pond - Real-time synthesized duck audio soundscape

Show HN: High-quality duck audio synthesizer

The Duck Pond is a browser-based audio experience featuring a small flock of mallards—three hens, two drakes, and two broods of ducklings—going about their day. Unlike typical nature recordings, every quack is synthesized in real time, creating a dynamic and immersive soundscape that responds to your position on the virtual bank. Put on your headphones and listen as the ducks vocalize from different directions, each call uniquely generated on the fly. This project showcases the power of procedural audio for creating lifelike, interactive environments without relying on pre-recorded samples. It's a delightful demonstration of how synthesis can bring virtual wildlife to life, offering a fresh perspective on game audio and sound design.

No recordings. Every quack is synthesized as it happens and heard from where you stand on the bank.

I like the simulation. They do 'dabbling' and 'picking insects' but they dont ever seem to do 'ducking' (tail up, head underwater).

Ducks are named after 'ducking' ... or possibly, 'ducking' is named after Ducks.

edit: also please remove hard ceiling of 120 peas. I want to throw more peas

I don't know who came up with idea that bread is bad for ducks but it ruined one fishing spot for me. There was a place where people were feeding bread to sucks and fly fishing there was awesome. Carps, chubs, crucians, rudds and roaches, even nases! All on dry flies. Then someone put out sign that bread harms ducks so people stopped feeding them and after a while all fish just disappeared.

Really love this. Very relaxing to listen to this in the background.
