John Carreyrou, the Wall Street Journal reporter who broke the Theranos scandal, watches Nathan Fielder and Lance Oppenheim's new documentary "You Can See Everything" and admits to envy: Holmes granted the filmmakers the access she refused him a decade ago, instead sending litigator David Boies to intimidate him and his sources. He recalls turning down Errol Morris's 2016 pitch for a "he said, she said" film, insisting the facts show fraud.
"I see it as a 'he said, she said,'" he told me. "That's not how I see it," I responded. "There are basic facts and those facts show that Elizabeth Holmes committed fraud."
