Federal safety regulators are reviewing a petition alleging that roughly 1,000 Tesla Model Y Robotaxis and Cybercabs exceed posted speed limits in active school zones. The petition, filed in late September, includes three video links and is tied to four incidents but no reported crashes, injuries, or deaths. NHTSA has 120 days to decide whether to open a formal investigation.
On its own, an NHTSA petition review doesn't confirm that Tesla's robotaxis broke the law or that its driving systems are defective.
