New Tattoo Ink Can Be Switched On and Off with Light
Tattoos you can turn on and off

Researchers at the University of Colorado Boulder have created a tattoo ink that can be turned on and off using different wavelengths of light. The system, called PhotoTat, uses photochromic dyes in blue, magenta, and yellow that change color when exposed to specific light. This could allow people to hide or change tattoos without painful removal, and may have medical applications like tattoos that only appear when needed.
This is a tattoo that you can have, and whenever you decide you don't want it to be showing anymore, or you just don't want it there, you just turn it off. And that's it. You don't have to turn it on again.

This is awesome and I hope it catches on, but the idea of "may be useful to people who want to conceal tattoos in some situations" seems far fetched, some make-up layer would probably be a simpler solution, wouldn't it?

> These dyes are encapsulated in nanoparticles of polymethyl methacrylate (PMMA) — a medical-grade, glass-like plastic that is already used in medical implants and dermal fillers
Nano plastics? :p
Still pretty neat. I like the example picture in the article too
