Volunteers Map North Korea from Their Armchairs
Cartographers of North Korea

A survey of 211 OpenStreetMap contributors reveals why they map North Korea, a country with almost no internet access. Most have never visited, tracing roads and buildings from satellite imagery. They cite curiosity, a desire to help future reunification, or simply the thrill of filling a blank map. Some see it as a political act against an oppressive regime.
I edit because when Korea is reunited there will be need for maps to help in building infrastructure for North Korea.
