Rampart: 14.7MB browser-native PII redactor hits 98.4% recall
Rampart: Browser native on-device PII radaction

Rampart is an open-source, on-device PII filtering system that runs entirely in the browser. It combines deterministic regex validations for structured data (SSNs, credit cards, phone numbers) with a 14.7MB MiniLM model that catches names and street addresses in context. Trained on OpenPII 1.5M, it achieves 98.4% private-term recall across seven languages with 3.9ms median latency on WebGPU, outperforming Microsoft Presidio and AWS Bedrock Guardrails.
Our core design principle is that the only personal information you can be sure is private is the information that never leaves your device.
