Akhetonics Builds a Photonic CPU That Keeps Data as Light
Akhetonics Photonic Computing: 1,000x Faster CPUs
Akhetonics is developing an all-optical computer where data stays as light from input to memory to output, avoiding repeated conversion to electrons. Co-founders Michael Kissner and Leonardo Del Bino have published a two-bit optical CPU architecture and built nearly 30 generations of photonic chips. They aim to deploy a commercial machine with a major customer by the end of 2026. The hard part, as Del Bino puts it, is that light doesn't like to stop.
