Yggstore: Sharded, Encrypted Storage Between Friends Over Yggdrasil
Yggstore is a proof-of-concept for sharded, encrypted file storage between peers on the Yggdrasil overlay, with no VPN coordinator. Each file is split into 4 MiB chunks, encrypted with AES-256-GCM, and erasure-coded into 4 data + 2 parity shards spread across online peers. A small stub holds the key, so sending someone a stub is a way to send them the file. The cryptography is unreviewed and experimental.
The small stub left behind holds the key, so sending someone a stub (sealed for them, by email or anything else) is a way to send them the file, with no cloud service in between.
