Strands Decider 2B: A 2B-Parameter Decision Model That Runs on Your Laptop
Strands Decider 2B: a small, open-source, decision model

Strands Labs has released Strands Decider 2B, a 2-billion-parameter open-source decision model that picks among options and assigns confidence scores. It runs locally on CPU or GPU with median latency around 115ms on an RTX 3090 and 153ms on an M3 MacBook. Built by replacing an LLM's text-generation head with a pointer head, it's designed for agentic workflows like tool selection, routing, and guardrails. Weights, training data, and scripts are on GitHub and Hugging Face.
The point is that a decision this cheap can sit in a path where an LLM call never could.
