Supabase acquires Turso to make databases as cheap as files for AI agents
Supabase is acquiring Turso
Supabase is acquiring Turso, the company that rebuilt SQLite in Rust and built a cloud platform where one server can manage millions of databases, loading and suspending them on demand. Supabase already launches over a million databases weekly and expects agent-driven demand to outpace global capacity. Turso keeps operating and continues its SQLite work, while Supabase stays on Postgres; together they aim to give every agent the same developer experience from prototype to production.
Agents should be able to create a database as easily as creating a file, with just as little concern about cost.
